Education: Right or Privilege?

In the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, education is established as a right. But in some cases it can be a privilege. Not every child in the world has access to education. In poor or authoritarian countries, being educated is a privilege. Those countries don’t value schools and don’t create an education system because the government considers educated people as threats to them, or because the countries don’t have money to afford schools. Most of the population of those countries considers that education isn’t worth it for their kids and they prefer to use them as extra-earning hands.
In developed countries there is usually a good education system, making their population better citizens and by that making the world better. But in my opinion, education is a privilege because not everybody can access and about one sixth of the world is illiterate and more than half of that part is women.

Education – Right or Privilege?

Education is any act or experience that has a formative effect on the mind, character or physical ability of an individual. It is the process by which society deliberately transmits its accumulated knowledge, skills and values from one generation to another.
Education can be a right when you get it free and it is compulsory and shouldn’t be a business, because it is necessary to communicate, to have a good quality of life and to have a nice job in the future and be successful.
But it can be a privilege when there are a lot of children that don’t go to school and don’t have access to education because they can’t afford it, they don’t get the chance or it is distant from their facilities or simply because their parents don’t understand how important education is.
So, education is a right and a privilege, because even being something that we need, some children don’t have access to it. So, we should be proud to have a nice education because there are a lot of children that just don’t have the chance to have it.

Education: a Right or a Privilege?

The Universal Declaration of Human Rights-Article 26:

“(1) Everyone has the right to education. Education shall be free, at least in the elementary and fundamental stages. Elementary education shall be compulsory. Technical and professional education shall be made generally available and higher education shall be equally accessible to all on the basis of merit.
(2) Education shall be directed to the full development of the human personality and to the strengthening of respect for human rights and fundamental freedoms. It shall promote understanding, tolerance and friendship among all nations, racial or religious groups, and shall further the activities of the United Nations for the maintenance of peace.
(3) Parents have a prior right to choose the kind of education that shall be given to their children.”
This text was written on December 10, 1948 by the General Assembly of the United Nations, unfortunately almost anything hasn’t changed since then, for some people. In the today’s world there are 900 million illiterate adults worldwide, and over 113 million children of primary school age remain out of school, in both cases the majority are women.
The most part of the times things like the big distance between school and people’s houses; if they have very poor family’s that can´t pay the school fees, than they have to help in home, or their only chance is to win a scholarship; and if they live in a country with an authoritarian regime is very hard to get education especially for girls.
I think that no one should be obliged to quit school if they don´t want to, and the government of each country should have as first priority the education of their people because that will make a huge difference.

EDUCATION

In some countries, children can go to school, because it’s a right there. But still, some of them say it’s boring, and they try to skip it. They should know that in other places, not so far away, kids are forced to work, or they can’t afford education. There education is a privilege.

Education: “the teaching or training people (…)” in Oxford Students Dictionary.

Teaching and training people to know how to be right, polite and teaching to defend themselves.

I think that school may be boring, but still I’m very lucky to have a government and parents that make me go to school, and I’m lucky that there is a school nearby!

I think that school is a privilege because only an educated citizen is a real citizen.

EDUCATION

A right or a privilege?

According to Oxford Dictionary, education is a process of teaching, training and learning, especially in schools or colleges, to improve knowledge and develop skills. But is it a right or a privilege?
Education is a right because it is in the law, and it is the only way to end with ignorance and poverty, and learn some values indispensable for peaceful citizens. But over 113 million of children of primary schools remain out of school and 60% of them are girls, there are 900 million illiterate adults worldwide. Sometimes the only school that exists is too far from home, and charges fees that poor family´s can´t pay and in the most times the children need to help their families at home with farming or household chores.
In my opinion in some countries education is a privilege but should be a right for everyone.

EDUCATION

Education is very important for of the children’s future without education young people don´t have possibilities to find a good job and have a good future.

Education at present is a right. Everybody should have the opportunity to go to school and every school should have materials and books. But some people don´t have the same chances of others, they don`t have money to pay fees, don`t have a school close to their homes or their parents don`t think that school is important for their education and this is a bad thing because sometimes the children dreaming of going to school but they can`t because they have to work with their parents.
In my opinion every children should go to school and learn many things for their future, and the parents that don`t have money, the state should pay for their education and not spend money on unnecessary things.

EDUCATION

Education is an intellectual or moral training of a person, a way of acquiring knowledge and developing skills. Education is to have a set of values, to respect the others, to improve social mobility or increase equality of opportunity.
Sweden is the country which most improves in education nowadays, in Sweden the school is compulsory between 9 and 16 years old, the adults can study too. Higher education is for everyone. The students don’t have to pay for attending school, they don’t have to buy books or spend money to eat at school.

In my opinion education should be for everyone, we are all different persons, but we have the same rights. We want to learn more. Education will prepare us for the future.
